The recent study published in the BMJ ( British Medical Journal) highlights the promising impact of hippotherapy in managing hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS). This connective tissue disorder, characterized by chronic pain, joint subluxations, and persistent fatigue, significantly affects patients’ quality of life. Through a months-long hippotherapy program, a 16-year-old patient demonstrated significant improvements, including better pain management, reduced fatigue, and a return to walking. This innovative treatment offers new opportunities to enhance the physical and emotional well-being of hEDS patients while reducing reliance on medication.
